Once my video is uploaded to DMDS, which TV networks can download it?
DMDS provides you with the tools needed to digitally deliver broadcast music videos for submission to the TV networks and other outlets of your choice. Whether it’s MTV, Vh1, CMT, Music Choice, BET, MuchMusic, or your local cable-access music channel, they won’t have access to your video until you use DMDS to deliver it to them.
How is digital music video distribution better than physical (Digital Beta tapes/HDCAM tapes) distribution?
The most important benefit is that DMDS is the broadcasters’ preferred method of acquiring new music videos for airplay consideration. DMDS is preferred for a variety of reasons:
- all decision-makers/influencers at the network can instantly watch the video as opposed to waiting for the weekly music meeting.
- integration with DMDS on the back-end helps broadcasters’ streamline the acquisition => review => broadcast workflow, resulting in DMDS-delivered videos premiering much faster than tape-delivered videos.
- they don’t have to store a tape.
- they can use DMDS to organize and simplify communication with the submitter.
Apart from the benefits to the broadcast networks, there are key benefits for the submitter as well:
- broadcast networks’ preferred submission method.
- it will likely save you money.
- get direct feedback on the status of your submission.
- view reports to see which individuals at which broadcasters have streamed and/or downloaded your video(s).
- video(s) instantly delivered - not overnight, not 1 hour rush – instantly delivered as soon as you click Send.
- Include accompanying promotional info/materials with your submission. eg, pics, links, bios, etc. This is much more impactful than including a few printouts in the padded envelope.

Why isn’t every spot I see on television in HD? Don’t advertisers want their spots to look the best?
Well, there are more spots in HD all the time – but the two limiting factors are what the outlet has the capacity to playback on-air and the cost for the sender to deliver to the outlet in HD. DMDS solves the cost problem by drastically reducing the rates associated with delivering campaigns to outlets in HD. If a station is currently only broadcasting in SD – we can get them the best quality SD file by starting off with an HD master.
